New book for GDA is a hit!

A book written in aid of GDA is already proving to be a hit!

On Saturday 22nd October, GDA and a team from Gloucester Deaf Football Club headed to the New Lawn Stadium, home to local football club Forest Green Rovers, for the launch of a new book which has been written by GDA Chair Chris Gardner, and which is raising money for the services and support the charity provides to thousands of deaf and hard of hearing children and adults in Gloucestershire.

Chris, himself living with severe hearing loss and a Forest Green Rover (FGR) super fan, decided to write to 'The Rise of Forest Green Rovers; The Road to Wembley' to celebrate the rollercoaster 2015/2016 season that saw FGR make their way to Wembley.

Cotswold bestselling author Jilly Cooper and FGR Chairman Dale Vince, were on hand to sign copies of the book for which they both provided forewords.

Book sales from the day reached over £1,200 and along with donations from generous FGR supporters, the day raised £1,426.06 for GDA.

Copies of the book can be purchased from local bookstores as well as through the GDA office by contacting 01452 372999 or emailing admin@gda.org.uk. Books cost £12.99 with all proceeds from the sale of the book coming to GDA.

Congratulations to Chris on such a success book launch and our sincere thanks to Jilly Cooper, Dale Vince, FGR, Ecotricity and the thousands of FGR supporters who helped kick-start the book sales.
