How GDA has been supporting our deaf and hard of hearing communities during lockdown

For the last few weeks the GDA team has been working round the clock to ensure the services and support we provide to thousands of people living with deafness across Gloucestershire and the surrounding areas, can continue wherever possible, during the lockdown period.

As it's Deaf Awareness Week, we've put together this little infographic to show you just how we have risen to the challenges faced, to provide vital services to our deaf and hard of hearing communities.

From hosting over nine hours of British Sign Language (BSL) virtual social events and regular news updates, to calling over 720 people to 'check-in' and offer support and advise on their hearing aids and specialist listening aid equipment, and producing eight signed bedtime stories for deaf children and their families, GDA has continued to put the needs of people living with deafness at the heart of what it does.

Like all charities, GDA faces an uncertain future thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, and now more than ever the services and support GDA offers are needed by those living with a condition that is so often overlooked and underestimated.

If you're able to make a donation to GDA, you will be helping to ensure we can continue to be there for the people who need us most, tomorrow and in to the future.
