HOME  /  ABOUT

GDA’s roots date back to 1919 when it was formed by the Gloucester Diocesan. Since then the charity has gone from being a small old fashioned charity to one that is leading the way for services for deaf people in the Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Swindon and South Gloucestershire.

People living with deafness is at the heart of everything that GDA does. All our services and support have one aim in mind – to reduce social isolation and enable people to live life to the full. We reach out to all deaf people including people who use BSL as their first language and people who have hearing loss, perhaps acquired through illness or injury.

We recognise and respect the needs of people from a linguistic and cultural minority group and equally offer support to people who may experience emotional loss when their hearing deteriorates or they become deafened.
