Three Peak Challenge receives a boost

Thanks to local businesses, GDA's Three Peak Challenge fundraising total has received a boost...

Over the last few weeks local businesses have stepped up in support of Sally Webb and Olivia Hill's Three Peak Challenge which they're doing in aid of Gloucestershire Deaf Association (GDA). The girls, who will set off on Friday 27 September to climb the three largest peaks in the UK, have been busy fundraising amongst family and friends, as well as hosting a tea party and car boot sale. But thanks to local businesses who have donated to their challenge their fundraising total has been given a big boost.

To date, the challenge has raised over £1,100 and is well on course to reach their £1,500 target. Sally and Olivia have been delighted with the response to their challenge and thank everyone who has so far supported them. In particular the Gloucestershire Independent Network (G.I.N) group who invited Sally and Olivia to promote their challenge to their group of local businesses last Thursday, and who have very kindly donated £250 towards the challenge.

The Three Peak Challenge is one of the most challenging fundraising events you can do in the UK, and for Sally and Olivia who are both deaf, this trip will present a whole new set of challenges they'll have to overcome. Along with the physical demands, they will have to cope with tiredness while overcoming the communication barriers with the rest of the group.

But they are taking this challenge head on and GDA couldn't be any more proud of them. They want to show that despite their hearing loss, deaf people can do anything a hearing person can.

If you would like to get behind their challenge you can do so by:
  • making a donation on their fundraising page www.justgiving.com/GDAThreePeakChallenge
  • sending your donation to the GDA office; Three Peak Challenge, Gloucestershire Deaf Association, Colin Road, Barnwood, Gloucester, GL4 3JL
  • coming along to the Quiz Night at GDA on Friday 6 September where all proceeds from the evening will go towards the Three Peak Challenge fundraising. Tickets cost £5 per person and teams of up to six people are welcome to come along.
