GDA's re-development given £10,000 boost

GDA's re-development plans given a £10,000 boost thanks to grant from the Summerfield Charitable Trust

Thanks to a generous grant given by the Summerfield Charitable Trust, GDA's re-development plans for its Colin Road site have been given a big boost. Due to a historic pensions deficit the charity has been forced to sell its car park to safeguard the future of the services and support it offers to thousands of deaf and hard of hearing people living in Gloucestershire.

Chief Executive Jenny Hopkins said “While the sale of the car park has been forced upon us we are very optimistic about the opportunities such changes can bring to our charity and the support of the Summerfield Charitable Trust is invaluable to ensuring we can make the most of those opportunities."

Plans for the re-development include a Deaf led café and a shop space to facilitate specialist listening-aid equipment, as well as employment opportunities for a number of hearing impaired people. A new, smaller car park will replace the current space on the other side of the Centre.

GDA would like to acknowledge and thank the kind support of the Summerfield Charitable Trust and its Trustees. To find out more about the Trust please visit their website www.summerfield.org.uk.
