Local Business Charity Awards success

GDA and Coventry Building Society, Cirencester, success at Local Business Charity Awards.
On Thursday 7th September, GDA's Events and Communication Officer, Gemma Sills and GDA Trustee, Peter Maynard, attended the 2017 Local Business Charity Awards, alongside it's charity partner Coventry Building Society, Cirencester branch, in the hope of winning the Jelf Award.
The awards, held at the National Star College in Ullenwood, are sponsored by Ageas and Jelf and are an opportunity to recognise the support given by Gloucestershire businesses to the county's local charities.
GDA nominated The Coventry in Cirencester for the Jelf Award following the continued support they've shown to GDA over the last couple of years. Since making GDA their chosen charity, staff at the branch have jumped out of a plane and climbed the three tallest peaks in the UK in 24 hours, as well as hosting numerous community and fundraising events in their branch in Cirencester. The staff at the branch have also become embraced becoming more deaf aware, and now actively champion deaf awareness.
Despite being up against some tough competition, Coventry Building Society were announced the winners by Jelf's Phil Barton. Their win means that GDA will receive a donation of £1,000, which will go towards helping to fund the number of services and support on offer to local deaf and hard of hearing children and young people.
GDA would like to thanks Ageas and Jelf for hosting such a wonderful evening and for allowing this celebratory platform to take place. Congratulations to all the winners on the night and to the other finalists too.
