GWP helps bring Christmas fun to CDCC

Children who attend Gloucestershire Deaf Association’s (GDA) Cirencester Deaf Children’s Club (CDCC) were kept busy at last weekend’s Christmas party thanks to the generosity of GWP Packaging, a Cotswold-based packaging company. GWP provided the children with three-dimensional cardboard Christmas trees that the children decorated in their own unique styles.

GDA, a charity who provide practical and emotional support for deaf people from their Colin Road base in Barnwood, contacted GWP after reading about how the firm’s cardboard trees had helped remind the residents of a dementia care home that it was Christmas time. Gemma Sills, Events and Communication Officer at GDA said: “Our young guests were truly mesmerised by the trees on Saturday; we couldn’t have hoped for a better treat for them to celebrate this special season. Our sincere thanks to GWP for donating such a generous gift – they helped make a lot of children at CDCC very happy.”

CDCC is a vibrant and engaging club for Deaf children, as well as their siblings and best friends. They meet at the Youth Opportunity Play Group Centre on the first Saturday of the month in Cirencester where they enjoy a range of activities and crafts as well as visitors from the Hedgehog Sanctuary, Police and The Owl Man. The CDCC Christmas party is the most popular event of the year, and a chance for all the children and families to come together to celebrate.

GWP were delighted to be able to help out with the request. Ruth Cook, MD of GWP Packaging said: ”We originally produced these trees for the children of our own staff and they have enjoyed decorating a great deal. I am really pleased that the cardboard trees have now brought fun and smiles to the children at CDCC.”
