GDA wins 'Social Enterprise Award'

Gloucestershire Deaf Association (GDA) has been awarded the ‘Social Enterprise Award’ at last night’s Gloucestershire Business Show Gala Dinner.

The event held at Cheltenham Racecourse bought together local businesses and organisations to celebrate the inspiring and innovative work taking place across Gloucestershire. 

GDA was awarded the ‘Social Enterprise Award’ in recognition of their Mutton Jeffrey project which enables Deaf people into employment by assisting them in setting up their own businesses. A number of deaf entrepreneur’s businesses are already taking of with bookings for photography and cleaning being extremely popular.

GDA’s Chief Executive Officer, Jenny Hopkins said “We are absolutely delighted to have been given this award and to receive recognition for such an important project in helping Deaf people. This award is a big step forward for Deaf people in gaining greater access to employment. It’s fantastic to be recognised in this way by mainstream businesses.”
