Friendship Circle summer fun

Summer delights for local hard of hearing crowd
On Tuesday 27th June, 70 guests from across the county came together at GDA's community centre in Barnwood to enjoy the annual Friendship Circle summer party.
The Friendship Circle was set up with the sole aim of helping to relieve the isolation and loneliness that so often comes with losing your hearing. The Circle hosts two free events a year and is a friendly and welcoming opportunity for guests to mingle with others who are also facing the challenges that hearing loss brings.
Guests were treated to a delicious lunch courtesy of Deaf-led social enterprise, Yumma Food and were kept watered and fed by five hero volunteers from GDA's local corporate partner, Ecclesiastical.
The occasion also brought an opportunity for David Shotbolt of the Gloucester Freemasons to present a cheque for £2,000 which has kindly been donated by the Freemasons to help fund the vital and life-changing work GDA does with local people who have been born Deaf and are British Sign Language (BSL) users and those who have become deaf through illness or age.
All-in-all this special event was another roaring success. We're now looking forward to welcoming guests back to GDA for our Christmas party on Tuesday 28th November.
