Project Officer - Children & Families (part-time)
 
Responsible to: Project Development Manager
 
Location: based at GDA, Gloucester, with some travel required 
 
Hours: 18.25 hours per week
 
Starting: July/August 2019
 
The Project Officer post-holder will be under the line-management of the Project Development Manager and responsible for leading activities and working with deaf children, young deaf adults and CODAs up to the age of 25yrs, and their families. The aim is provide support with communication, improve access to information and also social opportunities to better their wellbeing.
 
The role will require delivery of Understanding Deafness deaf awareness training. The flexibility to work with young people during school holiday periods and some evenings and weekends is also required. A minimum of BSL Level 3 or a BSL user is essential.

Project Officer - Employment / Navigator Developer (part-time)

Gloucestershire County Council and over 70 voluntary community social enterprise, public and private sector partners from across the county, have joined together and won £3.2 million funding to help the county's most vulnerable adults in to work, training or education; the project is jointly funded by the Big Lottery and the European Social Fund.

This exciting new project, known as The Gloucestershire GEM (Going the Extra Mile) Project, commenced in October 2016 and has engaged with over 1,000 people across Gloucestershire. It focuses on people who face challenges in getting into work, and support them to move closer towards education, training, volunteering or employment.

The GEM Project is managed by Gloucestershire Gateway Trust (GGT) on behalf of Gloucestershire County Council. The project is being delivered by GEM Delivery Partners and, as one of those Partners, we now have an opportunity to recruit a part-time Navigator Developer for the reminder of this project, which due to its successes, has been extended for a further two years.

The successful candidate will provide intensive day-to-day 1:2:1 support to GEM Project participants who are D/deaf or hard of hearing people to build their stability, confidence, motivation and readiness to learn, and ultimately move them closer towards education, training, volunteering or work, including self-employment. A minimum of BSL Level 3 or a BSL user is essential.

Equipment Services Manager (full-time)
 
Responsible to: Chief Executive Officer
 
Location: based at GDA, Gloucester, with daily travel across Gloucestershire
 
Hours: full-time
 
Starting: July/August 2019
 
The Equipment Services Manager postholder will be under the line management of the Chief Executive Officer, responsible for leading a small department covering all of GDA's equipment and hearing-aid services. The postholder is accountable for the successful fulfilment of work contracted to GDA by health and social care public sector providers.
 
The Equipment Services Managers needs to be fully trained and experienced in hearing-aid maintenance and also have a knowledge of a wide range of listening aid and visual alert equipment. The skill level needs to be sufficient so as to be able to train others within the department to an appropriate standard that they can work confidently on their own.
